We are very proud to announce the pending release of an exclusive variant cover to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #34 on June 4, 2014. The cover features all four of the Ninja Turtles preparing for battle with components of the downtown Rochester skyline behind them and their nemesis Shredder looming in the background.
The cover was drawn by up and coming local artist Salvador Otero for first exclusive variant. “We wanted to bring Rochester to comic books as no one else had before, and we knew that Sal could do just that. Once we chose a Ninja Turtles cover and told Sal we wanted to incorporate Rochester, he knocked it out of the park” said owners Mike Ringelberg and Dave Inguagiato. Featuring the Chase Tower, Freddie Sue Bridge, Clinton Square Building, Bausch & Lomb Tower and Excellus BCBS, the Turtles are unmistakably going to defend our city.
Created by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird, the Turtles are having a banner year in 2014. Not only is it their 30th has been going for about 3 years, and is written by Eastman. There is a top rated cartoon on Nickelodeon, and a looming movie reboot later this summer.
Salvador is a truly talented artist with a unique style. Born and raised in Rochester, he graduated School of the Arts in 2004. He has been drawing and illustrating since he was 8 years old. He is trained in fine arts, painting, illustration and pen & ink. A true testament to his talent, since a serious back injury in 2009, he has had to relearn to draw.
The book is due to release June 4, 2014, but there will be an official release party Saturday June 7, the cover at no charge. Limited to 1000 copies, this is a true collector’s item, for both those that collect comics and collectors of Rochester memorabilia.
